Gouache/Acrylic Crabs and Oysters Painting Class
May 23 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Gouache – sometimes referred to as opaque watercolor, starts out similarly to watercolor. The pigment ratio in gouache is usually much greater than in watercolor and solid white pigment are incorporated. These factors give gouache a much heavier texture and higher opacity than watercolor alone.
But if you feel more comfortable painting in Acrylic that is fine too.
Students will learn to practice shape, color, form and composition using gouache paints (opaque watercolor) with various subject matter. In each class, we will also focus on different styles which will evolve from abstract through impressionism to superrealism.
Bring your own supplies (gouache paints, paper, brushes, heavy card stock or Bristol board replaces canvas, for Acrylic Painting bring Acrylic colors, canvas, brushes, paper towels, etc.), or rent a kit from the instructor for a fee of $15.
Please let us know ahead of the class that you will need to rent a kit so the instructor will have enough supplies available.
Reference photos and sample paintings will be provided as examples.
