In Person: Beginner to Intermediate Oil Painting Class with David Simpson
April 24, 2022 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Lesson: Monochromatic Painting OCAL
Are you looking to further your oil or acrylic painting ability? Then this is the online painting class for you! As a long time, professional painter and fine art educator, David holds a plentiful amount of experience in producing and teaching various styles of painting. Regardless of your amount of experience, desired painting style, or subject preference, this class will assist in your growth as a painter and an artist.
This in person class will begin with an introduction and a brief Power Point. Ultimately, this class will guide you step by step through the stages of developing a painting. The primary subject will be architecture. Painting fabric can be challenging. However, it can greatly assist an artist in learning about process and application. We will utilize a real fabric still life for inspiration. Along with color mixing, one goal of instruction will address the importance of creating a sketch and dynamic composition in paint. Given the time limit and the nature of the class, we will primarily be working in “Alla Prima.” This term literally means working wet on wet. Finally, instruction will cover the various layers of “building up” a painting to reach the end goal. Recommended canvas size should be around 9” x 12” up to 16” x 20.””
